10 ways to love your gut

Digestive health impacts fertility. We are not what we eat, we are what we absorb and if we are not absorbing nutrients that will have a knock on effect on hormones, egg health, sperm health and implantation.

Here are a few ways to support your gut daily.

  1. Eat 7-9 portions of fruit and veg (ideally no more than 2 fruit). Fibre helps support bowel motility and detoxification

  2. Apple cider vinegar can be helpful in supporting the breakdown of food.

  3. Chew - the more work you get your teeth to do the less work your gut has to do!

  4. Prebiotic foods (onion, garlic, leek, ) feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut

  5. Probiotic foods (kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir) help populate the gut with healthy bacteria

  6. When your mouth is full your fork is empty. There is no need to pile your food high, its not going to run off your plate.

  7. Remove triggers - food intolerances, stress, environmental, make up, house products can all impact gut health

  8. Move daily - exercise and movement help support healthy bowel movement

  9. Get outside - one of the best things that you can do for stress management and sleep, both of which directly impact your gut

  10. Limit fluid at mealtimes - if you drown yourself with fluid when you eat it makes it harder for your body to absorb your food.

Small changes make a big impact. Pick one thing from this list which you can try today.
